Opening shots..

Hey there. I'm Gretchen, and going to start a blog again, only for the ninety-eleventh time.

Today's been interesting. I had a phone screen interview with Rachael from Comcast and she SAID that she would forward the info that she gathered to the HR manager. I really hope I get a callback from them, or almost anyone soon.  Being unemployed for 1 1/2 years, minus 4 months, really sucks.

I'm sitting in Starbucks, about a couple miles from home because our home network has been misbehaving for a couple of days now, and it's getting VERY annoying. Comcast has said 3 times now that they're sending a new modem and we should "receive it in 3-5 business days".  Poor Patty has been keeping track of this, and yesterday was the 14th call to them.

Anyway, there's this weird guy a couple tables over, with rainbow braces/suspenders, holding up shorts, and yacking away to someone about how the "mafia" controls this, that, and everything. It's pretty bizarre. I've not heard so much about the mafia since I saw the Godfather for the first time, waaaay back in about 12th grade. I was babysitting the kid down the street, Heidi, and her mom (my eighth and ninth grade Spanish teacher) asked me to NOT turn it on until Heidi was in bed. So, being a good babysitter, I agreed and very quickly figured out WHY the mom told me this!
